As mentioned in previous posts, I have decided to showcase the January 2014 KOM, Be your own kind of Beautiful to show just how versatile these kits are.
For today's post, I have made two cards using the same stamps. For the first one I took a softer approach, and stamped the sentiment using distress ink to create a background, which I then splattered with water to give it a softer look. I also used baker's twine and star brads to accent the image.
Although, I was pleased with the outcome, I felt like the image would really 'pop' if embossed in white on a dark background. So I did just that, and then also added some of the smaller star images stamped off in silver a few times before stamping on the card stock, to soften them. I also had some really cute dies in planets and stars that I included for some added interest.
So there you have it, two completely different styles of card using the same images.
Don't forget to leave a comment each day for your chance to win two free Itty Bitty stamps from Unity Stamp Company. While you are there perusing the stamps you would pick if you are the lucky winner, be sure to check out all their sales and new releases. Have a great day and I hope you'll come back tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteI am loving the first card! What a cool idea, using the twine like that. I need to try that!
ReplyDeleteTwo great looks with the KOM you used!
ReplyDeleteFantastic cards! I especially like the second in black and white. The white embossing gives a bit of a 3D feel that is perfect for the space effect! I can't wait to see what you come up with tomorrow! :0)
ReplyDeleteI love this stamp and your cards. Great job.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards look great! The stamp really does pop embossed in white on black! I like the way you added a star die cut/punch under the star brad, it really makes the star brads more noticeable.

ReplyDeleteI'm behind schedule this week so haven't been able to blog browse as much as I usually do. I did want to stop by and say congratulations on your GIU week and to let you know how lovely I think all of your projects are! Your cupcake card has been my most favorite so far…IF I was forced to choose, but I really love the sweetness of your sun moon and stars card, the black/white embossed one is SO pretty!
ReplyDeleteBoth card are nice. Think I like the one with color and the angles with paper.
